Twenty Bucks
When I asked dad for twenty bucks,
He said, “Let’s make a deal.
I’ll give you money only if
You eat a healthy meal.”
I found him sitting on the couch
Before I went to bed.
I looked into his tired eyes
And this is what I said:
“I finished all my vegetables.
The carrots tasted great!
I ate the piece of celery
That mum put on my plate.
The eggplant was delicious
And the string beans were divine.
The peppers were fantastic
And the broccoli was fine.
The giant baked potato
Was the highlight of my night.
The juicy red tomato
Filled my belly with delight.
My dad said he was proud of me
And handed me the cash.
I hope he doesn’t find out
All this food is in the trash!

Poem of the Week
A Fish in a Spaceship
A fish in a spaceship is flying through school.
A dinosaur's dancing on top of a stool.
The library's loaded with orange baboons,
in purple tuxedos with bows and balloons.
The pigs on the playground are having a race
while pencils parade in their linens and lace.
As camels do cartwheels and elephants fly,
bananas are baking a broccoli pie.
A hundred gorillas are painting the walls,
while robots on rockets careen through the halls.
Tomatoes are teaching in all of the classes.
Or maybe, just maybe, I need some new glasses.

Community Whanau Time
Today we went to our Community Whanau groups. In room 1 we have children who go to the kapahaka group, the science young discovers group, the clean up team, the community service group, the community art group, the tech angels group and the website group.
Some of the things we did in our groups was...learnt how to use the new COWS and the old COWS, writting letters to kindys to see if we can come visit, looking at other schools websites, looking at erosion, looking at where we could put art work into our school environment and looking at our enviro schools map and what our team could do around the school.
We were very busy and excited about all the things that our groups are going to be doing.
